Today, I wanted to show you guys my bedroom design. I've posted some photos on my Instagram in the past, but thought I'd do a blog post about it. I am in love with the way it turned out! It is a bit bright and colorful, but soft enough to be very cozy and inviting. That's what I wanted for it to be. I wanted bright and colorful yet somewhere I could come home to and it be cozy- my little haven away from the world.
Before I had decided to re-decorate I had a vintage-y french country theme, if you please, I LOVED it and it was very me at the time.
As time went by I started looking at the more modern pieces of furniture that were both very feminine and slightly glam. I started getting the itch to re-do it all! So I posted all my old furniture on Craigslist and it did take a couple weeks to sell but as soon as I sold it all, I started shopping!
Now the walls were already the sea foam greenish/blue color and I still like the color
(let's be honest, who wants to repaint?! Heck no. Too much work, & I have not the time!)
So I left it and worked around the cream and the sea foam green. Which now, with all the colors incorporated, I think it looks fabulous.
When I saw the Ralph Lauren red corduroy pillow at HomeGoods (that is on my bed) , and my mom found the sitting chair at Target with all the red and fun colors I knew I wanted to add red! I found my bed sheets at Pottery Barn on sale and the comforter at Target.
I love Target.
Then I saw the turquoise nail head headboard at One Kings Lane..had to have it!
It is really amazing how everything came together, that all these colors, prints and textures could marry and create something so beautiful. All the credit goes to my mom. She is a visionary. She can see something before actually seeing it and has no fear of it not working. She's like the all knowing one when it comes to interior design. For real.
She has taught me to have faith and trust in my love for colors and putting things together. I went for it and here we are today. She's taught me everything I know. :)
The most wonderful part about all of this, is that I only had to buy the headboard! All the furniture I sold bought everything else, the new bedding, all the knickknacks, lamps, tables, painting, and dresser. I thought was awesome.
In the end, the new design was practically free! Almost anyway. ;)
Here are some photos- one before photo and then all the new design photos.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!!
Wasn't it dreamy? I loved the soft colors.
Check out that fur around her neck! (haha, that rhymed!)
